I’m transferring from santa barbara city college into ucsb as a psychology major. My gpa is a 3.1 and I have 60+ transferrable units. I will receive my aa in psych from sbcc this spring. What are my chances of being admitted to ucsb? I also applied to ucsc and sdsu, but ucsb is my first choice.
@aeconnally It depends dude, I tagged ucsb with a 3.24 and i have my AA and IGETC completed since the end of the fall 2014 term. so i’m pretty confident that i’ll be accepted. From what i know and have experienced first hand with my rejection from ucsb last year…they are very strict on having both your math and english requirements complete by the end of the fall semester of the year you are applying to ucsb. In other words…your 3.1 gpa seems ok, seeing how i’ve seen ppl with much lower (3.03) get accepted last year because they had their math and english requirements complete by the end of the fall 2013 term. What i’m saying is if you haven’t fully completed your math and english pre-reqs by the end of fall 2014 (especially math) you have a very slim chance of getting accepted.
And again even if you have done all of the above…ucsb is now ranked #10 among the top public universities in the world. So i’m pretty sure they’re expecting applicants to challenge themselves and get high 3.3+ GPAs. Lucky for me i tagged so i don’t have to worry about that. But honestly, if you have done what i’ve already stated, i totally feel that you will be admitted with a 3.1 for psychology.
Good Luck and i really hope you get in dude!
The anxiety is hastening for all applicants as the days move onward xD
