3.47 UW and 3.72 W UCLA?

Hi, my name is Angel and I’m I rising Senior. I was wondering what are my chances of getting into UCLA, UCSD and USC
GPA: 3.47 UW
3.72 W (UC Scale)
SAT: 710 Math 740 CR 660 Writing
ECs:
Founder and Secretary of Diversity Club (2 years)
Varsity Basketball (4 years)
Volunteered at Children’s Museum (1 1/2 years)
Volunteer at Red Cross Blood Services (just started 2 months ago but it will have been 1/2 year by admissions deadline)
Honor Roll (10th Grade)
Paid Work Study for the Head of Diversity: I drafted the 5 year Diversity Plan for my school. About 4 months of research, 6 hours a week.
Paid Work Study at the Library: I work the front desk at the school library (1 year so far but I plan on continuing until the end of senior year)

***I know my GPA and my ECs aren’t exceptional, but I really want to get into UCLA, UCSD and USC. I was wondering if anyone with a similar profile has any experiences with applying to the mentioned schools. Again, I know my chances are rough but please let me down gently. :-S

An important thing to remember is that there’s more to the application than GPA, SAT, and ECs. There’s also your essays and your recommendations. In terms of that, you might have a shot at USC. On the other hand, UCs are pretty GPA-heavy schools (except Berkeley which is more holistic), so LA might be a bit tough. However, definitely NOT saying it’s impossible.

Of course, ethnicity, ranking, and a lot of other factors come into play. All in all, you have a shot at USC and maybe SD, but LA will be a bit harder, but not impossible.

Your GPA is low for those schools. I don’t know if you will get into UCI or UCSB. So aim lower.

UCs do not consider ethnicity at all, so that will not matter. Your UC GPA will really hold you back from LA and SD.

Agree with above posters that GPA will hurt your chances but your SAT score is competitive. Essays could help boost your chances and your EC’s are pretty good. Really work on your essays since you really cannot do much with your GPA at this point. Your intended major could also impact your chances for admission. Based on your posted stats:

UCLA: Reach
USC/UCSD: Low Reach

Make sure you have some solid match and safety schools. There is no reason not to aim high, but you need to have some good backup schools on your list. Good Luck.
