3.3uw, 2040 sat

Hey All!

I was hoping some people could give me some opinions on my chances of acceptance into the following schools.

UC Riverside
UC Irvine
UC Davis
CSU Long Beach
Univerisity of Southern California
UC Los Angeles (just out of curiousity)

I currently have a 3.3 UW (but after some changed grades it should be around 3.4/3.5), 3.9 Weighted, 2040 SAT score (took it once, will retake in October). I take some AP, honors, and regular classes. My school is recognized for being challenging and we often send many grads to UC's and Ivy Leagues, we are ranked within the top 100 high schools in the country (we are a public school). Also, my school doesn't rank (but my weighted GPA is within the normal/upper range for my peers according to our school profile).

I'm considered an underrepresented minority (if it matters), and not many people in my family have really done much schooling beyond the basic 4 years after high school so I'm very lucky to be getting the education i do now.

So, based on numbers alone, could you chance me for these schools?

Thanks!

So I’ll just use 3.45 as your gpa then. I think you are in all but UCLA and USC for sure. You have a chance at USC and UCLA if you can raise your gpa with a strong senior year. The problem you face is that you are merely average for your school. Your GPA would be stronger if you actually went to a school where you rank within the top 10%. You SAT is slightly below average so you may also want to try to improve that. I think if you can have a 3.5+ and a 2100+, you should have a strong chance at USC and UCLA.

Are you in state? I think you can’t apply with a <3.0 instate and a <3.4 OOS

Thank you for your helpful replies!

And I am in-state (thankfully)

Also, I’m actually not sure at all where I am ranked…the data I was going by was for this year’s graduating class…and my class also has many more students (largest in the school currently).

I really would like UC Irvine though.

Also, wouldn’t a decent GPA at a challenging and well-revered high school look better than a higher one at a school without as great a reputation?

I hope I can get another opinion.

Just curious how are u having ur grades changed?

Some of my teachers raise grades if a student performs well on the AP test.
