3.5 and worried

So I've had my sights set on the University of Michigan(engineering) for a while now, but I'm worried my GPA will hold me back, would you guys mind giving some feedback?

UW GPA = 3.5719 (junior year gpa = 3.65)

Full honors Fresh/Soph.

Full IB Junior Year

33 ACT (34 Eng, 34 Math, 29 Read, 33 Sci, 8 Wr)

DECA + MUN for 3 years (so far)

Tennis (2 years)

Track (1 year)

5 years of Tabla

(Most likely) good Recs

good essays (I will make sure to have it reviewed by at least 6 people)

What do you guys think? Do I have a chance?

Try to recalculate your GPA without freshman year and drop the subgrades. How does it look? Are you in state?

yes i’m in state, and my GPA looks kind of like a U.

F 1st = 3.7125
F 2nd = 3.525
S 1st = 3.425
S 2nd = 3.625
J 1st = 3.625
J 2nd (estimated) = 3.675

So it would be 3.5875

Oh, by the way PSAT = 205 so most likely national merit commended

Yes, you should be NM commended. Your GPA is a bit low for UMich engineering. however, if it is due to the grading system at your school or the course load, you should still be within the range. The over all admission average was 3.83 last year (it was higher than usual) and it should be higher for CoE. Your ACT score is at the 75% of overall admission. For CoE, it should be at least a point higher. That means your score would be at around the 60%. For in state student with this stat, you should be match to high match.
