I would put you at a semi-reach. a 3.55 GPA is very low for UM. Being in state, first gen, and having solid scores help, but under a 3.7 hinders your chances significantly

As an In-State applicant’s mom, I would have to agree with Pat. Under a 3.7 is a reach at UM. Your ACT would have to be 32+ to fix it. Sorry, just my opinion.

Your ACT score is within the range they want to see. Even though your GPA isn’t perfect, I think the upward trend will help you out. Plus, your ECs are impressive.

My son was denied with a bit better upward trending GPA and higher 31 on his ACT and more AP classes. He was a legacy - Father, Grandfather. He transferred to U of M as a Soph. I think you are on the edge and it could go either way.

Low GPA w/ not a very heavy AP load

Decent but not great test scores

ECs are kinda weak - there’s only EC you held for 3 years … the rest are at 2 and I don’t see any leadership

Good to have awards but I don’t think these are ones that will significantly improve your chances

It might be better if you go to Huron or Pioneer if you’re in the AA area.
