3.9 GPA mechanical engineering major. Schools I'd likely be accepted and chances at free tuition?

Besides the pretty GPA, I don’t have anything else too special unfortunately. But I’m curious what good schools I could be accepted and even more importantly–where could I get tuition paid for. I am pretty poor, that’s why.

btw, I am a community college student in Texas.

What does the Transfer Advisor at your CC tell you about this?

They’re pretty worthless imo. Srs. But I’ll check anyway when I go to campus 2 weeks from now.

From what I could tell I have a pretty decent shot at the big two UT Austin and Texas A&M. I would definitely get accepted to Texas Tech and UTSA with possibility of merit-based scholarships.

If you are not getting the type of advice you need from the transfer advisor(s) at your CC, then it may be worth your while to find out which office at your target universities can offer you more information. The university staff usually tend to be more helpful - anyway it can’t hurt to try. Look up contact info on the university’s web site and pick up the phone. Emails may not usually get answered in a timely fashion.

Transfer policies vary so much from one institution to another that it would not be possible to find an accurate answer from a public forum.
