3.9 or 4.0

would top colleges care about a 0.1 difference in GPA?
would a person with a 4.0 unweighted GPA have a lot more chnace than those with 3.8~3.9??????

and how much does decrease in grade affect your admission.
i mean i had 4.0 both my fresh and softmore years, but now i might get a B+ or two which will bring this year's UW GPA to 3.85.

so i have Freshman: 4.0 Softmore:4.0 Junior: 3.85 (UW), 4.0 (W)
IS THIS BAD???????????? I have moved to a different school with a different grading scale.

rank matters a heck of a lot more than GPA.

Here's a no-brainer situation:

Applicant A has a 4.0 and is valedictorian, but so are 8 other people in her class.

Applicant B has a 3.6 and is the sole valedictorian

what if school doesn't rank?

Then it won't make a critical difference in your application.

to HYPS MIT Stanford?

another thing to look at is the rigor of your courseload.

There are kids at my school with a 4.0 who have basically taken 2 semesters of physical education each year, some teacher aiding, basically a bunch of BS, while I have been taking every math and science course possible and am ranked lower than they are (unweighted)
