3.96 GPA 14 B's

Weighted Classes/IB Candidate

Is this normal and can I still get into selective schools like Yale or Cornell if i get a 2300+ SAT?

Those who have gotten in according to results threads had as low as 3.6..........but im wondering if they had a plethora of B's as well and I have a C

depends on your class rank

is your 3.96 weighted?

is your 3.96 weighted?

[/quote]
In a standard 4 point scoring system to get a 3.96 unweighted GPA with 16 B's and one C Laptop would have to have taken 450 classes in high school. I'm guessing it's weighted.

^^ lolol.......

Unfortunately, it seems unlikely for you to be accepted at selective schools like Yale or Cornell unless you just have magnificent essays and recs. I go to an accelerated high school and many students also have many B's or an occasional C. However, their weighted GPA is around 4.5 or higher. Even with your 2300+, I think the C will really hurt you since a weighted GPA of 3.96 is not very high.

Do you have any hooks?

smells grade inflation

im about 11/600, and yes it is very difficult to get a B in many classes.

its true but IB weighs all the classes, however my rank discounts that!!

IB with the standard and higher levels along with TOK?
Do both your SL and HL get bumps or is it just HL?

top 3% of the class+2300 sat's=competitive applicant

bump............

Your rank makes you very competitive.

Ranked 11/600, you are the same regardless of your grades. DON'T PANIC. You are fine.

Yea, don't worry. Your rank is competitive, even for Yale.

Does your high school give out both weighted and unweighted ranks? My nephew's does. It gives the colleges multiple snapshots of where you fit in the class-- how well you did relative to others and also how rigorous of a curriculum you took compared to others .

I would rank the rigor as top 1% of all applicants at cornell.

it's very possible to get into top schools with numbers as low as that
