3 C's Uh oh

Um I got a 77 in AP Chem, 79 in AP Psychology and 78 in Hon Humanities. Will they rescind my offer for admission because of my three C's. ( I was accepted to Tepper ED I)

I have no valid answer for your question, but I can’t imagine they’d rescind an offer for that (I’d be alot more worried about D’s or F’s). And a “79” sounds better than a C for some reason…those are really high C’s. Sounds more like B minuses.

Maybe someone more knowledgeable could answer this.

Thanks for the input.

I would think colleges look at final grades, not semester grades.

So you think they won’t rescind an early decision acceptance due to the midterm grades?

Nope, but I am a mom. Also, most schools weight the AP classes, so a C would be more like a B.

I don’t know your grading scale but a C for us is 85-77, so you’re actually in the lower C’s. …try to pull those up to B’s. Usually ED acceptees only send in final transcripts so
you have some time to pull up those grades. Good luck!!

For CMU ED applicants send in final and mid report grades. And my scale is 100-90 A 89-80 B and 79-70 C etc…

If you were one of the applicants set aside for a possible scholarship-- you are done for…no one gives scholarships to students earning even one C in any school…sorry that sounds harsh- but scholarships are for 3.8+ students with no blemishes…(I’m not talking about financial aid-- but pure merit based awards).

That said, CMU does rescind admissions (read the 2011, 2012 and 2013 CMU FB groups) – it does happen…but not for a C or even two Cs…
That said, you seem to be hovering near a B-- get over your your senioritus…have a bit of self respect here and honor the performance you are capable of doing- get some Bs – you don’t seem that far off from a B – how about a tutor in chem ??.. keep in mind the habits you set now will haunt you as a freshman…try to put your best foot forward (afterall you are supposed to be a business student-- this is not a very good example of your character)

Rescinded decisions are based on final grade reports…on Cs – a risk, a bunch of Cs and even a D - you’re finished – especially if you are getting any substantial financial aid.

Schools are looking for full pay applicants (see other threads on CC)-- anyone with serious financial aid walks on thin ice - you’re not in until you arrive on campus…until such time, you need not to receive a heap of Cs…pull it up…get innoculated for senioritus virus…and get yourself a dose of maturity vitamins too…

Thanks for the great advice. My only problem is that I can only bring up Chem the other two classes are final.Hopefully everything will work out and I will check out the FB groups.

Eh, don’t freak out about it too much. They’re AP classes, so they’re weighted as Bs. I dropped two of my APs altogether after being accepted (I called admissions and asked first) and they were totally cool with it.

Also, pro tip: I never sent in my final grades, though I ended up with a 4.3 for that semester. They didn’t once contact me about it. I’m a healthy, thriving CMU student. Somehow I doubt they care all that much, although I could have been a peculiar isolated case, I suppose.

As for it being indicative of your work habits? I chalk it up to senioritis, and you’re yet young. Don’t worry too much about other people telling you that because your last semester is less than stellar, you’re doomed to be a failure as a freshman. It simply isn’t true, and the disease gets the best of everyone. Pull those grades up if you can-- not for the school’s sake, but for your own. Dragging grades upwards is a special skill you learn that is infinitely useful.

In the mean time, good luck! Don’t fret!

If the school was asking for a mid-year report before making a decision then you would have a much greater chances ( though depending on stats) being rejected, since you have already been admitted if you show a great 8th semester report I doubt you would get a admission recind.
