3 Ws a problem transferring from Community College to UVA?

Hi, my first time posting, I just started my first semester at NVCC a community college in VA and in the summer i was taking classes and because i needed surgery I had to drop 2 of my classes and take Ws, and this semester in trying to make up for my missed opperunity in the summer i overloaded my schedule and am having to drop a class after the census date. My goal is to transfer to UVA for next year. Would it look bad if my final GPA was around a 3.8-4.0 but had 3 Ws on my transcript? Also is there anyway I can get a W off my transcript? like on my syllabus the teacher stated that the census date was the 24 while the office of admissions (after i dropped it) told me it was on the 22, it was different from other classes since it was a dynamic class, could i go to the dean and get him/her to get this off my record? ANY help is appreciated. Also if i retake the class will the W go away?

Ws stay on your transcript regardless of whether you retake the class or not; there’s no way to remove a W.

On the other hand, your surgery will most definitely mitigate the detrimental effect of the first two Ws while the blow which your third W puts into your competitiveness will be slightly lessened if you do a great job in the class when you retake it.

^^so how will UVA know about my surgery? Also your saying if get an A next semester in 271 (the class i got the w in because of misinfo) that will cause the W not to seem so bad? Maybe not even make them think twice about it?

Edit: also thanks for the info :)

If they use the common app, there’s a section for additional info on the application where you can list miscellaneous stuff such as why your surgery caused you to drop the class. If they don’t use it, I’m sure that they have a space for additional info on their application.

As for retaking the class, I wouldn’t say that they won’t look twice at it since there’s still a problem of why you dropped the class in the first place but it will most likely make it look a tad bit better. As for how much better it will look, I can’t say. You may want to explain that one as well so it doesn’t just seem like you got lazy and didn’t feel like taking the class.

And you’re welcome.

^^ yeah so i guess since it was kind of associated with the surgery i guess they might not see it as if I was just dropping it cause i was lazy, thanks for the clarification. if anyone else has any opinions please do add thanks
