hi guys, I'm struggling right now in my calculus class so not sure if i should get the W or get the C in the class...If i get a W for this class this will be the 3rd W ill get for calculus. I don't have any other W's on my transcript. what should i do

Try to get a B, but take the C if you have to! I wouldn’t take the same class four times :/

At this point, you should get the C in the class, if you take Calculus II (soo much easier than Calc I imo) and try and get an A it wont boost your GPA too much, but it will show that you have a trending math grade where you struggled in the first semester’s calculus but you succeeded in the second semester’s (or third if your major requires).
4 W’s for the same class doesn’t look to good. Depending on your current community college, they might not allow you to try and retake the class a fourth time which will cause you more trouble in applying to another community college to take that course. Then it will stand out even more that you did withdrew from calculus 3 times at one college and were forced to take it at another college. Hope this helps!

thank you, i appreciate the responses! i will try harder :D

Sorry to tell but,
my instructor from UCLA told us once u have 3 w on transcript you will be put at the end of the list. Anyway avoid more Ws and try to explain that when you apply.

I dont’ want to be THAT guy but I guess here goes; if you just barely scrape by in calc I you’re in for a rude awakening in calc ii. Calc I is much easier because it focuses more on differentiation and using algebra to simplify the result. Calc ii on the other hand focuses on integration, which IMO is million times harder than derivatives. I always thought calc ii was the worst of the lot in calc series, even more so than diff eqn or calc iii.

In my opinion (on a scale from 1 to 10)

Calc 1: 3 (cakewalk except for epsilon-delta proofs and related rates)
Calc 2: 6 (trig substitution and infinite series can get annoying)
Calc 3: 6 (bunch of new stuff)
Linear algebra: 2 (cakewalk except for chapter on vector spaces)
DE: 5 (felt like I had to memorize more)

I think calc 2 is often thought of being that bad because calc 1 was easy in comparison.
