3 Years of Spanish Vs. 4

I just started my senior year of high school and I'm already bogged down with 2-3 hours of homework a night.

A bit about me:
3.953 UW GPA
4 total AP classes (9-12) and 4 Honors.
31 ACT
Some extracurriculars
etc

My question is, is having a 4th year of Spanish really worth all the added stress, or would the three years that I've already taken be sufficient? Also, I doubt it would be, but would this be a "make it or break it" factor?

Sorry if this question seems asinine, I'm just really looking forward to hopefully being able to attend UMich in the fall of 2011.

Thanks everyone!

no need for 4th year language unless you want to go into humanities or that particular foreign language.

That’s extremely reassuring. Thanks so much! :)

I only took three, it was all good. 2-3 hours? Damn… what r u taking?

Really? I would check the website. I am pretty sure the U Mich website says that for LAS they require four years of a language in high school or you have to take 2 semesters at Michigan. You should call or check the Michigan website before dropping. Most schools require 4 years of a language.

I would keep the 4th year of Spanish because it is recommended by U-M but you’re going to get in so I wouldn’t stress out.

oh my bad, i’m engineering

My HS guidance counselor called and said only two years are required, three years is recommended. I ended up dropping the class. Thanks to everyone for the advice, though.

Also, MLDWoody, I’m still in high school, lol. I think you may have misinterpreted my post ;p.

I meant the other people said they were going into LSA, that might require more. Engineering was cool with 3

Oh, gotcha. Did you go to Engineering as a freshman?

From the website: Freshman applicants to the College of Literature, Science, and the Arts are strongly encouraged to take four years of language study, but only two years of the same language are required for admission.

Thanks for finding that, although I have already made my decision. Still appreciated. I’m more concerned with my LSA and CoE question, now.
