I have a question.
I am high school senior and i want to persuading mechanical engineering.
What i asked from this forum is that you need 3 YEARS to finish all the requirement in order to transfer to UC.

Is there any other way to push it back to 2 years instead?
That would take me the whole 5 years to get a bachelor degree and i wanna get a Master degree though.
I don't have many AP classes btw.

^excellent advice; talk to people. The internet generally just states the norm. Many times this not every case and even if it is, it is still possible to convince people that you are a special case.

uhh...why would it take you 3 yrs to transfer? I don't go to UC but at a minimum you would probably need to finish Calculus and Physics (maybe a semseter of chemistry) to transfer as an ME. It shouldn't take you 3 yrs to do that transferring from another school.

It depends on the knowledge that you will have by time you matriculate into a community college. From my own experience, I took an assessment test prior to meeting with a counselor before my fist semester of college. It's basically to gauge your knowledge of math and English comprehension.

You will need to satisfy the minimum requirement of 60 semester units or 90 quarter units in order to be eligible.

Rough sequence of courses:

Semester 1:
Calculus I
Gen. Chemistry I
English 1(A)
GE

Semester 2:
Calculus II
Gen. Chem II
English II
Physics I

Semester 3:
Calculus III
Physics II
Linear Algebra
Engineering course

It wont take you three years... as a matter of fact you can transfer in less than two years without any AP credits- provided that you are eligible to take college level math, physics and chemistry in your first semester.

My major is Mechanical engg and its taking me 1.5 years, including this fall, to finish all the major requirements and the GE's(1 each in arts, humanities, social and biological sciences).

No, almost all UC's require the same courses. Trust me... if u are eligible take college level math(calculus), physics, chemistry and english in your first semester, there is no way it would take you more than two years. Average about 4 classes in fall and spring, and take 2 in winter and summer.
I applied to UCLA and UCI for winter 09.
