<p>I had heard a while back that the State was going to cut U of I's budget 30 percent. Did anything ever come of this? How will that affect next years freshman? Current students are locked in at tuition rates, correct?</p>
<p>Nothing is definite yet. The new governor hasn’t even taken the oath of office yet. Then he has to present a budget, which will need to be negotiated, etc, etc. The new governor, however, has publicly stated that he wants to raise state funding for education, including higher education. The Board of Trustees for the university usually meets to set tuition rates in February. You’ll know what the rates are well before May 1st, and you’ll have your financial aid letter at that point too.</p>
<p>Also @ldavis regarding locked in tuition rates, yes, current students are locked in. My daughter is currently a sophomore at UIUC.</p>
