Ok, I took the September ACT and got a 31 (34E 35M 30R 25S..ouch)
Umm, I was wondering if it's possible to score a 34 in October with minimal or no studying - maybe just focus on science? And how?

The late deadline is the 3rd...so please give some advice.

Oh, btw I have a 2200 SAT and I was wondering if a 34 ACT is even worth attempting since I"m applying to Ivies.

Well it seems entirely possible. You only need 10 points combined from each section, so if you bring english and math to 36's (which is entirely possible seeing as they're your best subject) you'll already have three points. Then you only need seven more points more combined in Reading and Science. I don't think you need to prepare on science; it's more hit and miss if anything. Just skip the passages and go straight to the question. I did that and improved from a 27 to 31.

"I was wondering if it's possible to score a 34 in October with minimal or no studying"

Anything is possible. Someone people have done it, but its most likely not gonna happen. 10 points is a lot. I have no idea what IlDesi was thinking. 10 points is a ton, especially at that level. You lost 20 points total, so getting half of those back is gonna be difficult. You can basically only miss half of what you did last time. And if its only been a month, then chances are really slim for you.

i think it's doable. a jump in that science score, and scoring more or less around what you got in the others, that should give you a chance. it's only gonna help you more if you plan on prepping for that science section. good luck.

Umm how exactly does one prep for the science section? I used the skip to the question tactic but I got stuck on some passages and so I completely had to guess on like 9 questions on the September ACT...

wouldn't those ACT reviewers have test questions and tips for the Science section. I'm guessing there should be lots of resources on the web too.

I went from a 30 to a 34, but that was from December to April though. I didn't really start studying for the second one until about a week before it.

its definitely doable. I went from a 27 science in June to a 32 in September, and I only studied like 2 days b4 the test for science. I dont think its that hard, and I think I can def improve in science. I got a 24 in reading lol (I need to get the pacing down) so I'm not happy about that. Overall, I got a 31 composite like you and I am aiming for 34 too in October. GL!

I also got a 31 in Sept (29, 34, 30, 31) and I really hope to get a 33 in Oct. Not sure if I can do it, but I'll try anyway. The main thing I need to do is get the 29 in English up in the 32-34 range (the English is so easy, I really can't believe I only got a 29) My one fear is not being able to duplicate my science score, seeing how that section is sooo unpredictable and subject to more fluctuation in terms of scoring than any other section. (I've taken it three times and gotten 26, 22, and 31 on it lol) Anything is possible, and though it will be very difficult, a 33/34 is certainly not out of reach. It's not like 2 or 3 point jumps in a composite score is unheard of.

Yep I'm in a VERY similar position as well--also got a 31 (science screwed me over big time) and a 2210 on the SATs...I think I may retake ACT in Oct.
