32 ACT, 4.25 weighted, 3.6 unweighted, 1400 SAT, what are the chances for engineering at U of M?

Are you in state or OOS? F or M? I know someone with GPA 3.7+ and ACT 33 from in state got rejected. If you are from Michigan and your HS has very tough grades, you still have a chance. Otherwise it is likely a reach from in sate and a high reach from OOS.

If you attend an in-state feeder school, you have a good shot. OOS or a non-favored HS much less likely.

Male, out of state, from very tough high school. Does it matter that he has 35 on science and 32 in math on ACT? Or do they just look at composite.

Your gpa is too low for out of state CoE. Out of state competition for CoE is brutal. Unless you’re like…from Montana or a similar state that doesn’t have many applicants, I wouldn’t be overly optimistic.

He’d be much better off apply to LS&A, Kineseology, or Nursing and then transferring to engineering. A 3.6 and 1400 SAT make admission to engineering unlikely (average is 3.9 and 1440) , unless the HS is well known to Michigan (check on Naviance for admission statistics). Michigan really likes high SAT or ACT scores so it might be worth a shot to take it again. Make sure to apply EA.

The cross campus transfer requirements are detailed below. Almost all of the classes freshman year are shared with LSA and other schools, and transferring is pretty common. He only needs a 2.5 GPA which should not be horribly difficult (engin average GPA is 3.3)
