Depends on your intended major and the type of colleges you want to apply to.
For instance, if you were to apply to MIT or CalTech, I would highly recommend you take the test again. In fact, I would really advise to do anything to get a 36 on Math.
If you were to apply to Engineering/CS/Math/Physics departments in CMU, UPenn, Columbia, Harvard, etc., then again I would highly suggest you take against and do anything to get a 36 on Math.
Otherwise, don’t fret much. It’s not the end of the world and 33 is a respectable score. Just know that the average kid in the top 20 schools tend to have a 34~+ so you will be at some disadvantage.
{you will be in the bottom ~20 percentile of the applicants in the test for top colleges}
Ya, it’s really annoying when you have exactly a 33. Cause 34 is usually the fine relatively “safe” line for standardized tests.
Just know top college acceptance rates are in the single digits so I don’t know. Maybe your extracurriculars are superb. Who knows ?
But ya, if you are applying to the top 20 schools and you are going into a very math/science field or into a tech school, then YES I highly recommend you retake it and getting a 36 (or close to it).
Otherwise, pray. Seriously, there is “luck” in admissions too at a certain point.
btw,
Math 2c is different from SAT/ACT Math.
I think 760 is around 70th percentile in Math 2c simply cause of the quality of students that take the test~
Personally I weigh the math score more with the ACT/SAT math in comparison to the 760 on Math 2c but who knows. I ain’t a college admissioner. Having said that, I do know what Math2c fully is because when I was a student, I had an 800 on it. and a 36/800 on both sat/act math ^^
(personal opinion)
Honest answer: Retake it. In the ACT, colleges really care about the overall, reading and math score. A 33 is a 33 at the end of the day and it doesn’t help when math is that low for top schools.
