A junior. Hasn't taken SAT yet. Think he'd have a chance at any scholarships? Will be applying for Mech Eng.

Bulbar, does he have strong ECs and leadership? If so, I would say yes. Also, will he be a NMSF? TAMU gives very generous scholarships for that honor.

Might
More like when will the money be added. He’s set I got a 2000 scholarship not even close to those test scores

Yeah, he’s got strong ECs. He might be a NMSF, dont know yet.

Overall TAMU gives extremely generous scholarships for the combination of great grades and test scores and ECs. Even if he is only commended he will get some money. Can range from a few thousand to a full ride.

Yes, very generous, especially if he becomes a National Merit Finalist. There are a couple of links below, and here’s what A&M says about NMFs. It’s guaranteed if he makes finalist and names A&M as his first choice.

"National Merit Finalists who select Texas A&M University as their first choice institution are guaranteed to be offered the awards listed in the table below. The scholarships listed below will be in addition to any other scholarships from our department, individual colleges or departments at Texas A&M, or from other outside donors.

For out-of-state students, the value of the scholarship package could approach $100,000 due to the out-of-state tuition waiver, worth approximately $16,500 per year."

The tables (see link below) list $40K in scholarships plus an additional $12K for study abroad, etc., as well as an out-of-state-tuition waiver.

Thanks Yakker and everybody for the info. Does A&M have a full ride scholarship? Or maybe you get the full ride by adding up several different scholarships?

Adding up several. I’m not aware of a “published” full ride.
