On my first try, I received a subscore of 36 on the ACT. I have not yet taken the SAT. I really don't want to, but my dad is pressuring me to. Is this a worthwhile thing to do? Are there any colleges that will only accept SAT scores, but not ACT scores?

Was it ACT with writing? If so, you are all set! I read somewhere that this will be the first year that more students submit the ACT than the SAT…maybe your dad isn’t aware that it has become so popular and is trying to cover all the bases. See if you can find any info to assure him of this. Congrats on your great score!

Thanks! It was with writing, btw.

i’ve never heard of colleges not accepting the act. good job, you’re all set!

If you’re applying to top tier schools I’d say take SAT IIs and forget the SAT I. You could take it if you want to to see how you would do… because if you can pull out a 2300+ in that as well without studying that much that would be killer. Otherwise, don’t stress about it.

How …just how…

That is amazing dude

congrats

Thats great. Congratulations.

Skip SAT and take the Subject tests instead.

Absolutely skip the SAT.

Why would 2300+ be killer if 36 already means 2400. Dont be stupid by taking the SAT.

To confirm, your composite score was 36, right? If your overall, composite score was 36, then taking the SAT is irrelevant.

If you only got one subscore of 36 (like in one section), then I’d need to know what you got on the overall exam.

I think essay isn’t included in the composite score? Presumably though, you got a high score on your essay.

Bragger - what did you even ask for?

@glladgrat how long did you prep before you took the test?

Congrats- I wouldn’t worry about taking the SAT at all.

There’s no need to take the SAT. Figure out if the schools you will be applying to require subject tests and focus on those.

Yeah, don’t take the SAT and instead get three 800’s on subject tests and work on those college essays. Congrats on your composite 36
