anyone else excited?

um...congrats?

i am YaY!!!

Not really. The $200 pricetag is nice though for all the new stuff.

Yay?(10 char)

Well, the features are awesome, but I read an article (can't remember where) that detailed about the plan it comes with. Even though Jobs claims its only $200, factoring in the cost of the plan as compared to the 1st generation iPhone and it's actually $40 MORE than the 1st gen, making it $440 for the base model, as compared to $400 for the first gen.

Go figure, Jobs is a master trickster =P

Oh, and I just stumbled across it again:
You almost had us Steve, but the new iPhone 3G models comparison price is at least $40 higher than existing iPhones | The Mobile Gadgeteer | ZDNet.com

no texting for the base plan? and that's already at 70 bucks a month.
rip off

Massive rip off. I'm not a big fan of Apple, but I do love their iPods.

Also, this is a little off topic, their MacBook Air compromises way too much. I'd much rather get the Lenovo Thinkpad X300. It's not as pretty, but at least it has more than one USB port, a DVD drive, and powerful processing performance.

A lot of times Apple is overrated. And Macintosh computers do crash, contrary to what they advertise.

Umm actually ttan that article that you linked is false. The 3G iPhone plan for unlimited data and text messaging is $30 a month ($45 for business users), which is only a $10 increase. So in actuality you pay $10 more per month but you get the phone for half the price which i think is a pretty good deal I read it in the AT&T Press release yesterday.

no texts. ouch

Apple is becoming more and more controlling and profit-minded. In-store activation only? Way to stifle competition.

^ I think that is a loss-prevention move. The number of stolen iPhones is shocking. They can curb this by verifying the validity of the device with an in-store activation.

Also, I think there as a huge misunderstanding to how this works. AT&T has a monopoly on the iPhone, they control the data plans...not Apple.

It's a company...

Ha, I never thought that I'd be sticking up for Apple. I just feel like I have a duty to correct the wrong on the Internet lol. xkcd reference
