4.0 chemical engineering at UCSD, want to transfer to UCLA and UCB.
Today now I find out I am rejected by UCLA.
I really cannot understand WHY!!!
Do you miss any prerequisites?
There will always be a few people who get rejected with 4.0 from UCLA or Berkeley if not also Davis and SD. Having a 4.0 could mean anything. How many units did you complete? Course load (units per semester/quarter)? What classes did you take? Prereqs?
How about your ECs and personal statements?
@spenceyboi finish all the prereq and 121 quarter units. EC: work experience and research experience. I have no idea about personal statement.
The only reason I can conjecture is I’ve already taken too many upper classes, so I wont’t take a lot classes at UCLA.
Yea, if you have over 90 units and have been to another UC, usually you are not eligible for admission.
I just checked and UCLA says that 129 quarter units is the max. Do you have any units from APs?
If 121 is ALL the units you have taken including all classes plus APs etc., then I can only think that it would be your personal statements and nothing else.
It’s hard to say. I was rejected with a 4.0 last year applying for a major that seemed to be the exact opposite of impacted (linguistics and computer science). I know it doesn’t make sense sometimes when you see 4.0s get rejected and people with lower GPAs like 3.9-ish get accepted. There’s not much of a difference right? I tried to appeal last year but I had no luck.
Sorry to hear that. You must be disappointed, but try to make the most of the opportunities you have where you are.
Admitted to UCBerkeley, anyway.
So a happy ending after all.
