You might not have fulfilled a core prereq… The core prereq is either that 1 course you’re missing or it was another course that you thought you fulfilled but didn’t. I just realized I did this for Cal (thought I fulfilled a prereq but didn’t) and am likely an auto-reject.

Holy ****, what a nightmare. I applied with a 4.0 and all the prereqs done for ucla and i got in (I was missing a “recommended” one though). The prereqs for engineering are really tough and demanding…it’s a ton of work to get a 4.0. I didn’t have any ec’s, just dean’s list/president’s list, and my essay was not anything spectacular. Can you call them and post here what they say as to why they rejected you?

What courses did you take? Maybe you were missing more than you think?

international student? thats probably the only explanation. Also, maybe you should post your essays or something so people can tell you if they were what held you back.

It happens… Only 14 students were accepted last year for chemE? You have a way better chances applying as an EECS, Civil, or MechE cause way more spots are offered for those majors. I am glad my little brother applied MechE :). I wonder if its easier just to apply for another engineering major then change to ChemE at ucla? Or is that not allowed?

itransfer: 14 people got in chemE last yr really? my fd 3.55 got into chemE today
finished all major prereq some B’s on math and one B on ochem (he is a resident)

Dude, I totally know how you feel. But atleast you got turned down from an extremely competitive major. Me? I applied for math (which supposedly has a 40%+ acceptance rate!) with a 4.0 and most prereq’s complete (ALL would have been finished in two weeks!). The only reason I took the computer science class was to improve my chances there…grrr…Granted, I’m an international student in an OOS CC, but STILL! I just…don’t get it!
