4.0 GPA In Community College Transfer options

I graduated HS at 16 in June 2010. I have a 2.97 GPA and a 1375 in my SATs.
I am from New York City, Brooklyn.
I am going to apply to 4 SUNY Schools.

Oswego
Bufallo
Oneonta
Binghamton

I don't feel as if i have a good chance into getting into those schools. So i am also Applying to City Tech CUNY and Brooklyn College CUNY.

If i get accepted into my SUNY Oswego i will go there, if not i am planning on going to City Tech for a year, keep my GPA at a 3.8 or better and transfer to a well known private university.

What do you all think about this plan. Is it valid, am i doing the right thing. I am really nervous and worried about this decision.

someone please help me here, someone has to have an opinion on this.

come on guys i really need this help

How did you manage to get a 1375 on the SAT? And uh, I don’t really see anything wrong with either, only that it might not be as easy as you think to go the community college route. There are definitely 4-year schools that will have you with those numbers.

You should post this question in the Transfer Forum. Click on “Discussion Home” in the upper-left of this screen, and scroll down to find it. Don’t forget to read through the thread at the top of that forum titled “Transfer Admissions 101”.

If you are currently attending a community college, your best bet is to complete your A.A. there, and then apply for a transfer. Talk to your counselor about the articulation agreements between your community college and the universities in the SUNY system. If you complete a specific A.A. program with a specific GPA, you will have guaranteed admission to the third year of a program with an articulation agreement.

Does your community college have a chapter of Phi Theta Kappa? If so, do your best to meet the requirements for membership. Many colleges and universities have scholarships specifically for PTK members.

1375 out of 1600 or 2400? If it’s out of 16 you can at the very least get into any CUNY.
Why haven’t you applied to colleges until now though?

The main reason is because i really had no idea what i wanted to do exactly. Now that i know exactly what i want to do i want to apply and go back to school.

I really want to get in to Oswego, if i don’t get into it i will stay at a community college for 2 years get a 4.0 GPA and transfer to a good private university. I can do it, i just need to figure which schools will accept me.

I am sending my application in Oct. 12th because the 15th is when they start reviewing applications for the Spring semester. I have everything ready just waiting till Monday to go pick up my high school recommendation.

Basically i’m just really anxious to find out which schools will accept me.

Someone help me out here, i dont know what i’m doing.

you should probably talk to a HS/CC counselor. They’d be best to advise you on what route to take.

you’d get into all the SUNYs you listed, so i don’t see what you’re worried about. bing may be a bit of a stretch if you’ve only been in your CC for one semester, but really, i think you’re more than fine. there are other SUNYs you’d definitely get into, too, like potsdam, cortland, fredonia, empire state, etc.
