4 digit PIN#

On the princeton supplement, there is a place for a 4 digit PIN number. This number is needed to register for application tracking. What if we haven't yet submitted the supplement, but would like to track other forms (ie transcripts). Do we put a random PIN number to register for application tracking and make sure we use the matching one when submitting the supplement? Or do we have to submit the supplement before being able to track our application? Thanks

I'm pretty sure you need to submit the supplement before you can track your app. It seems to me that they need to have the PIN number you wrote on your app associated with your account in their system before you can track all of your stuff. Don't quote me, but this seems the most logical to me.

i sent in a princeton supplement for ED and i don't remember a PIN number accompanying it...are u talking about the art supplement or the optional reference sheet?

also, where do you track the application?

The PIN number was on the Commonapp supplement, not art supplement or optional ref. sheet.
There is a link on the UG admission page: http://www.princeton.edu/main/admission-aid/undergraduate/
to check the status of the application

o, hmmm i used the princeton app. and i guess it doesn't have a PIN for its supplement, i don't think you can check online if admissions received optional items...if they received all your required items (teacher recs., etc) they will post "application complete" regardless of whether they received any supplements, simply b/c they're not required

Um, the Pton app definitely has a place for a PIN, and you can definitely check your app status online. You should e-mail them or call and tell them you never chose a PIN (well, if you care enough).

o right, i misunderstood yaodynasty's question, i do have a pin number, i thought he meant a specific pin number for an optional reference (i call them supplements)...lol nvm

sara, did u do Common app?

no, i did princeton's app

To clarify things for everyone, Sarah89 is correct. You CANNOT check to see if any of your supplements are in, it only keeps track of the required material.

did anyone try to call and find out the status of SUPPLEMENTAL MATERIALS???

if so, were they able to check and verify that they did come in?

No, I figured I didn't care so much about the supp materials to assume they'd get lost.

well, OMZ you probably sent them in at the same time as the other app materials, rite?

i sent it a couple weeks after

I actually sent one supplement in about a month late (the music one) because I didn't know the required songs, but my interviewer called and asked them if I could send in some other music and they said just go ahead and send it in anyway, it won't hurt.
