4 hour day class vs 2 hour class for twice a week

has anyone ever took a class where it was only for one day of the week but the hours were pretty long ? can you compare it with a 2 hour class taken twice a week? opinions?

I have an economics class this semester that is 3 hours long in the evening, one day per week. It has worked out well for me, and I’m going to take another class like that next semester. The best thing about it was that the majority of the time the professor let us out almost an hour early, as he didn’t like the evening marathon any more than we did. There’s also half as much time wasted on preliminaries and administrative stuff, and due dates for homework are nice and predictable, with a whole week for each task.

thanks man, great input. this one is for an english class thats 4 hours but i heard the teacher was great so yeah.

All of the night classes at my school are either 5:30-9:30 for 8 weeks, or 6:30-9:15/7-9:30…we also have W afternoon classes from 2-4:30 that you can take… I LOVE having longer classes once a week and I try to load up on them as much as possible actually… two reasons, one, like the above poster due dates are predictable and because of the limited meetings the class always stays on track… two, because it forces me to go! a MWF that is 50 minutes long, I’m much more likely to brush off.

True, I find that longer classes tend to let out early, whereas shorter classes typically never do.

It really depends on the class…my 3 hour anatomy and physiology lab was torture because I hated the subject and it was just a gen. ed. requirement. But I loved my 3+ hour art and writing courses. Most of my courses were an hour long 3x’s a week, or twice a week for 1.5 hours. I really prefer to have classes as few days a week as possible, so taking longer courses over 3 or 4 days is better than having short classes spread over 5 days. Especially since I commuted almost an hour.
