4 years of a sport

I just finished my second year of JV swim on my high school team (I'm a sophomore) and a friend of mine isn't doing swim a 4th year because by the time she applies for college, the swim season won't have even started.

Is it necessary to go the 4th year even if the colleges don't see it? Is it possible to say that you've done 4 years even though the last sport season hasn't begun?

Thanks!

That’s what I did. When I applied to colleges (especially the one I applied to early), I knew I was going to do a sport that I had done for the previous three years, so I checked all four boxes (9-12) on the Common App, but I didn’t put that I was a four-year letterman since that hadn’t happened yet. So I think it’s certainly alright as long as you don’t do it KNOWING that you aren’t going to do that sport, just to look good or whatever. And colleges may see it if you are waitlisted somewhere and choose to send a letter of continued interest.
