4 Years of Foreign Language

I'm a junior right now, and recently I learned that Harvard has a 4 year foreign language recommendation. For those who applied,
I took spanish for 2 years of middle school and 2 years of high school (for an aggregate 3 years). I already have a full schedule this year, but would you recommend that I take spanish outside of school to make up for that year missed, or is it better I focus on the other aspects of my application?

unless you proved early proficiency, the question would be why you didn’t pursue the language? Is this indicative of your overall academic initiative? Finishing a 4th year would remove any doubt.

Well, I decided to focus on a more scientific courseload junior year, so I stopped a language in order to make room for a 3rd science, but will this gap yearr reflect negatively?

The suggested requirement is not 4 consecutive years but 4 of same language to attain some level of proficiency in a language other than English.
