4 Years of Foreign Language?

So, I am sign up for AP Spanish Lit. this year, and I do not really want to take it, mostly because I see myself using this class to take something that is more interesting and helpful in the future to me.

Would MIT look down upon my not taking 4 years of foreign language?

I want to take AP Environmental Science instead.

I appreciate the help.

Dump Spanish. MIT asks for three years - and you're giving up one class for another challenging class. I doubt that would be a problem at all =).

My son took three years of Spanish with no senior-year foreign language and was accepted. He did take one year of French in middle school, but of course this was not reported on the application.

Beware of AP Env. Science, though; in many schools this course is not really a true AP-level class (though of course you'll take the AP test). Some colleges lok at this AP course choice as just resume-padding because it's just not a challenging class - at least at our local high school.

^
Same here. The AP Enviro Sci class in my high school is a complete joke. The teachers literally take the students out to stare at and make sketches of old trees.

I think I'm going to stick with Spanish. Thanks for the input

I didn't take a language class my senior year, and I did take AP Enviro Sci, and I got in. So apparently they didn't look down on it too much. =]
