I’m currently a senior and I am supposed to graduate in December with a BA in social sciences. Before this I have declared accounting, nursing, and healthcare management as my majors but switched each time. I still don’t really enjoy my major but I feel like I’m running out of time. I would like to either do interior design or teach art, but I only have a semester left for my scholarship, I’m just really lost right now and don’t know what to do.
Finish your degree!
Your bachelor’s degree is not the ultimate determinant of what careers/jobs you’ll have over your lifetime…or even directly after college. Interior design doesn’t require any specific kind of college degree - more an understanding of the art. (Many designers may have art or design degrees, but it’s not a requirement). There may be some training programs or certificates you can get post-graduation to help you along the way, but you don’t need to change your major for that. Teaching art in K-12 schools does require being certified, but you can do that by getting a master’s degree (usually M.Ed or MAT) in art education.
However, it doesn’t necessarily make sense to change your major now and spend the money on extra semesters in school.
