5 Days Before ACT and Scores are Dropping. What Should I Do?

Hey CC,

I'm taking the ACT December 2014 test, and I've prepared for a couple of weeks so far. My goal score is a 34+ and my practice had gone well a week or two before(scores from 33-35), but all of a sudden my scores have dropped significantly. I just took a test and scored the lowest on all my sections, and I don't know what to do. I only have 5 days and I do not want to get a bad score. Do you have any tips on how to solve this issue?

Trust me, you are over studying. Relax for the next few days (just brush up on some things) – dont do anything too major. I was scoring higher and higher and then about a week before the test my scores began to halt and then decline-- it was because I was putting in a solid 5-7 hours a day. Make sure to practice good sleep habits and relax a bit more prior to the test

I agree with @thegrant‌. I was taking a practice test every other day for a couple of weeks, getting 34s in practically every section - sometimes higher, as well. Last Sunday I took one and got a 31, my lowest score within the past month. I believe it was just a process of studying to hard, getting frustrated, and trying to study while frustrated; it just doesn’t work. Now, I’ve just been reviewing the answers I got wrong on previous practice tests, and occasionally looking over some of my prep books. At this point, you have practically finished your preparation, and you have to trust that you know what’s coming.
Good luck!

As long as you know your expected range, you shouldn’t be surprised if you get a score within.
