5-yr. Education degree/credential programs

I want to teach math or psych, and I want to be part of a 5-year program when I end up with a credential. Does anyone have any advice?

Truman State in Missouri has an appealing 5-year program that gives you a masters. My daughter is considering going there. We visited the campus and were impressed with the school and the Ed. program. Dept. head gave an excellent presentation. Extremely reasonable OOS tuition. The remote location is something to take into consideration. Check it out.

It depends on what state you’re in. My DD is in a SUNY school in a 5 year program from which she will emerge will a B.S. and a Masters in childhood ed and special ed and be qualified to work with birth to grade 6. The school also offers 5 year programs in adolescent education in various specialties.

In NY, from what I understand, there is no certification for teaching psych at the secondary level. In my district, psych is taught by a teacher certified in social studies.

The 5 year option is an excellent one for someone who knows what they want to do.
