I heard that ucsb looks at Extra curriculum a lot ... i heard that its 50 percent ec and 50 percent grades/scores is that true??? thats what someone told me after the college info visit for ucsb.

50 percent seems waay too high. If I were to guess, I would say 80 for grades/scores and 20 for ec’s

I would even say 10% EC and 90% grades/stats. Remember there is no way for them to verify if an applicant really did the EC they put on application. Grades/Stats are also a indicator how well they will do in college

The UC system randomly selects 10% of the applicants and requires them to verify one of the items they have listed as an EC. So they do manage to catch people. However if you haven’t gotten a letter by now you’re not going to get one since they’ve already finished that part of the app review.

browny, it’s not necessarily EC’s alone. For UCSB, your SAT’s and GPA account for 50%, and everything else, including your EC’s and personal statement, accounts for the other 50%. This is from the UCSB admissions presentation.
