Hi I’m new here and currently a sophmore in high school and I was wondering if anybody knew what the pros and cons were of doing either one of these. I am really interested in becoming a medical doctor and was wondering if I could get any sort of guidance as to whether or not I should set my goals to get into a B.S/M.D program or stick with the standard medical school track. Also, I was wondering what classes I could take in high school that would help me on my path to becoming a doctor. Thanks!

I’m just here to offer an alternative. What about a dual Bachelor of Science degree in Chemistry and Microbiology? A dual Bachelor of Science in Microbiology and Nursing might even be better. You have to be ABSOLUTELY sure that you want to be a doctor. Some people can’t do it, others run out of funding. In any case, you’ll definitely want to get a master’s degree along the way if you decide to go to med school. Nothing would hurt worse than to skip the master’s degree and never finish. That’s why I applied to receive my associate’s degree, because I didn’t have any wiggle room financially plus I never knew what would happen on my way to my bachelor of science in business degree. Luckily I am on my way to getting that degree too.
Just remember it’s not about who’s the hardest worker or who’s the smartest, because right after high school I thought I was very bright, maybe one of the brightest. And I am bright, but compared to some of my peers at college I am just above average academically. Anyways, don’t rule out stopping at undergrad and finding a career that is easier to achieve. Chances are you are 15-17 years old; you may change your mind still.
Sorry wrong subforum haha …
That sounds interesting I’ll look into it. I haven’t quite made up my mind yet so that’s true. I’m just trying to gather up some information to try and find direction. Thanks for the help!
