Just saw a statistic on their site that said 8% of applicants admitted had <600 Math I :( :(

3.4 GPA, 3.7 (10th-11th), 6/9 possible APs taken

Just took SATs yesterday for the 2nd time, doubt my math improved at all. Will be doing Math II in November.

As far as work experience goes, I believe I'll be in the top 10% of applicants. Sounds arrogant, but I have a ServSafe certification, been a cook at two different restaurants, a server, a shift leader at a Domino's, and some less notable positions. Did graphic design for a restaurant as well.

Interview in NYC next Friday, I have a good feeling about it. I've eaten at two of the alumni's restaurants! Crazy coincidence, right?

My objective opinion is a definite rejection, expecting nothing more. I know my numbers just won't cut it, and it's quite disheartening.

I think you are in the ballpark. You sound like the sort of student that Cornell Hotel is looking for and I would not assume a rejection.

If you have some math creds – like honors courses with good grades in math – to balance out a slightly low math SAT, that would be great. There’s also some feeling that Math II is not a bad strategy –

If you can swing it, a few sessions with a private tutor focusing on a math strategy would not be a bad thing. Your score could be a reflection of 1-2 wrong answers that you should have left blank … strategy is a good thing.

cnp55, thanks for the reassurance, means a lot. I remember reading a lot of the previous posts about SHA on the forum, and from what I understand you have a son currently studying there?

I’ve taken Honors Algebra B+; Honors Geometry A; Honors Alg2 B+; and currently an A in AP Calc AB

noragon, is this from your experience based on the SHA or Cornell in general?

I do believe a lot of it will depend on my Math I score. This was only from my first take, I will retake in December. Math II is now required for the Hotel school so I don’t have a choice haha
