Anyone have any info on 6th college? i'm not well versed with the different colleges at UCSD

i've heard it's one of the more artsy and creative colleges.

suits me. i'd love to get in touch with my creative side.

Im in sixth too as a poli sci major, not sure why i chose it, but seems cool if its artsy and such.

this is a bit off topic..

but is it possible to transfer colleges? not that i prob intend to at this point but just curious

From what I've read it isn't possible to change colleges.

it is possible to change.. just that it is very hard...

this is an information i got from ucsd message board

i know of someone who switched from revelle to sixth... but dude gets like str8 A's so i guess they let him pass...

i dunno why but when i mention 6th college and pre-med bioengineering , i induce laughs from my peers saying im screwed.

i really dont know whats so wrong with 6th.

comp sci at 6th..based my rankings on brochure and GEs (not much writing more tech)

but i heard our living conditions are crap....

well how bad can living conditions be?

umm compared to other schools, living in 6th is decent. but comparing to other dorms in the school... you will realize 6th is out in the boonies and you get little compensation for that. freshmen live in what's affectionately called "camp snoopy" bc it's like... well ... living in these army barrack/log cabin thingies. the reason why ppl say it's the more "artsy college" is bc it has a lot more art requirements.. i dont really know that much about its core class. But anyway, 6th is ok-ish... im forewarning you... you wont like the food at its cafeteria (Fordworx) haha

But congrats to all those admitted anyway, if you have any questions,, ask

oh, and there are these rabid, killer raccoons that come out at night around 6th.. well, i personally think they're scary!

i also got into biomedical engineering: pre-med at sixth from out of state

Yeh, I got accepted to the 6th college too, and I like it but i dont know much about it besides that its artsy.

It doesnt interfere with the major if the program at 6th is too arty, right? Cause I am majoring in Biology and I dont know if the creative program there will help me or is it no big deal? Also, anyone kno anytin about the Practicum at the 6th?

starlet464:
from reading your post, the only reason why people laugh about sixth college is because of the increased art requirements and the somewhat less than desirable housing (i.e. campy snoopy-like and racoons)?

sorry. i am getting a little worried about sixth college. i guess i need want some reassurance!

i actually visited sixth on admit day and YES it is out in the stix along with warren but the housing is alot more intimate for the res halls at least cuz the apartments are like on the other side of some big canyon. plus sides of living in sixth are that it is near parking garage and near the bus stop that takes you around la jolla.

you know, honestly, sixth is not that bad. the people there love it plenty. pretty much, whichever college you end up at, you're going to like, unless it's just completely opposite of your interests. the location is, still, really kind of out there, but not extremely bad. i mean, i live in erc.... that's in the boonies-ish too, but i don't mind it.

there is NOTHING wrong with sixth. the GEs are definitely not the worst; erc and revelle take the cake on that one. it doesnt matter which college you are in, academically; the only difference is the GEs. You will be totally FINE

and like CAchild said, there is a parking structure right next to the res halls and a bus stop, which is convenient if you plan to go around sd or whatever.. i dont use it, but you can and it's a good resource

don't worry, you will be fine!

thanks CAchild3 and starlet464!

what's better to live in the apartments or the dorms for 6th?
