I missed 3 on the December Test with an 11 on the Essay and got 750.

"since the essay is worth 240 pts out of the 800
is it like

1 = 20
2 = 40
3 = 60
4 = 80
5 = 100
6 = 120
7 = 140
8 = 160
9 = 180
10 = 200
11 = 220
12 = 240

? that would make sense if it was so."

I dunno how they do it, but you're overestimating the essay's worth I think. I got a 9 essay, which means on that scale I would have lost at least 60 points, but I got a 770 even without a perfect MC.

Well according to the blue book curves, the essay would at most be 150 points but at least 110 points, but I come on anybody can pull at least a 6 on their essay so that make it worth 30 to 90 points... not much I'd say.

how is that possible if the guy above you got an ELEVEN on the essay, missed 3 and ended up with a 750?

how could you get a 9 and miss (a few?) and still get 770?

The writing curve, interestingly, varies the most of the 3 sections of the SAT. Like i posted earlier, a 12 on the essay and minus 5 was a 730 on the January SAT. Shocking, I know.....

Number Right: 42, Number Wrong: 5, Number Omitted: 0, Total Number of Questions: 47, Multiple-choice Raw Score: 41

essay 8

SAT June score: 660

"So 5 wrong, just an 8 on the essay, still a 710."
bigmrpig, ur either lucky or im unlucky...

Hold up hold up hold up. I'm baffled as to how I made this mistake, but I only missed 3, not 5.

MULTIPLE CHOICE SCORE DETAIL Help

Number Right: 46, Number Wrong: 3, Number Omitted: 0, Total Number of Questions: 49, Multiple-choice Raw Score: 45
ESSAY: 8

For a 710. I apologize to anyone I misled, I must have read the score for my CR or something? I'm not even entirely sure.

cliff_hanger: On my 770, I just missed one, but that still means each point off my essay took away less than 10 points from my total score.

wow, the curve on the writing MCs isalmost as bad as the curve on the math MCs (math: 720 Number Right: 51, Number Wrong: 3, Number Omitted: 0, Total Number of Questions: 54, Raw Score: 50)

I wish the SAT II Writing were still around.

^heh Me 2... I blame CA..

2 wrong 10 essay 790. How can that be right?

lol dood ..thats a VERY good curve ..lol

I'm proof that the multiple choice is much more important than the essay:

48 Correct
1 Wrong
0 Omitted

9 Essay

800

hmm i got a 9 and missed 3 and i got a 730

I wish i had a 730^^^^^^^
