770 for science majors?

First off, I'm not by any means saying that 770 is a bad score. I'm just worried because it's not as high as it could be, especially for someone who wants to go into the sciences. I have a 770 on both Biology M and Chemistry, but the thing is, I'm interested in studying biology/biochemistry.

I took Bio at the end of last year (not much I can do now), but I just took Chem earlier this month, and I was wondering if I should retake in October. I also haven't taken AP Chem, since I'm in IB. Will colleges take this into account, since I have only technically taken one half of my IB Chem course? I do really well in the class (99/100 average both semesters).

I guess this boils down to whether it's worth it to spend the extra time this summer to prepare for retaking Chem (and possibly Math 2 for an 800). Again, I'm not saying these scores are bad. It's just that I have the chance to retake and I don't know if I want to pass that up. Will it really make that much a difference to colleges? I do have a lot to work on this summer, including two extended research essays that are 4000 and 2000 words long, in addition to college apps, etc.

Sorry this is so long, but any help would be appreciated. Thanks!

Anyone? :/

770 looks fine, colleges will realize you could’ve only missed a few questions, most likely due to timed conditions, nervousness, silly mistakes, etc. Anything above 750 is very solid :)

Thanks swebber  I’m leaning towards not retaking. I’m going to have a lot going on in the fall, and I would be really frustrated if I ended up getting the same score (very possible) or even worse.

I can’t imagine a college not admitting someone because of a 770 opposed to an 800… although I guess it wouldn’t “help” as much. And it’s not very impressive if I want to go into the sciences… arrrgh! Why couldn’t I have just studied a little more?
