Should I retake a 740?

I took my first SAT II at the end of this recent sophomore year, Biology M.

However, I did not take it seriously nor did I study for it at all.

I literally just took for the kicks and to see what I would receive.
I did not anticipate that it would be sooo much different than the AP and that it would actually contain information that was not in the curriculum for the AP test.

As a result, I received a 740. Now I am the #1 student in AP Biology and I intend to pursue a major that is related at least somewhat to Biology. So should I retake it and actually study for it this time to aim for a 770+? Or would that look fishy for a superscore where a 740 the first time would look better.

Thanks!

Retaking it would be a total waste of time. 740 is fine.

@Savannahstar Even for a top tier college? Is there any way to explain the score?

I mean I skipped like a whole section of questions on the physiology of plants because I simply didn’t know it on a deep level.

bump10char

You don’t need to “explain” anything. You’re good.

740 is fine. Move on.

It depends what your major is going to be. If you are putting your major as a STEM major on your application, you probably want Chem to be higher. If you aren’t doing a STEM major, then 740 is absolutely fine.

yea i got 720 on sat bio m, and i don’t think it really matters even to top tier colleges as long as you get 700+. after all sat 2’s are only supplements to sat/act scores.

Yes you should take it. 740 is a horrible score, you might as well drop out and rent a corner store for the rest of your life.

why would you retake a 740
Some of us like me would wish to get a 740
Stop with your modesty.
It annoys the **** out of me
