Hi guys! I got a 770 on my Math 2 SAT back in June and was wondering if it is worth retaking due to the curve making my score not-so-great. I'm definitely competent in math; I'm taking calc BC this summer, got a 5 on my AB exam, and have gotten A's in all my previous math classes. My only problem with the exam was that my proctor was going off of a different time than the time on the clock in my testing room, and only gave us warnings at 20 minutes and 5 minutes, so I ended up going too slow thinking that I had plenty of time and ended up having to leave 6 Q's blank. I would probably be able to retake it and get an 800, but I'm cringing at the thought of having to spend several hours cramming again for that test while I could be doing something else more meaningful with that time. Plus, I kind of don't want to have to waste $35 again on that test if I don't have to. So BASICALLY, if I retake this test and get an 800, will it actually have an impact on my admissions? I plan to apply ED to Penn and will likely be looking at other selective colleges in the case that I do not get in, so will a 770 v. 800 really matter at such schools?

Also, I am going for a biochemistry major (STEM), and am looking at CAS for Penn.

The difference between a 770 and an 800 is negligible. You need to move on and make other areas of your application stand out.

No.

Thanks for the replies! That’s what I thought, but while I was sifting through some older posts on CC, some people seemed to be convinced that anything other than an 800 had to be retaken. This testing business really takes away so much time away from individuals’ productivity.
