Hello. I’m a Junior, I’m not a math or science major, but I’m a Questbridge student aiming for HYPS. I thought I did really well, and I’m disappointed with a 770 on the Nov 7 Math Level 2. I know that people say that the difference between a score above 750 and an 880 isn’t much, is that honestly true? I really don’t want to retake this. I don’t know if it makes a difference but I’m a social science student and I got an 800 on World History, 90% sure I’ll get an 800 on US.
Considering SAT Subject tests only account for like 2% of your overall application, even if you turned that 770 into an 800 it’ll only increase your chances by about .1%. I got a 760 on my Math II, not what I wanted but it doesn’t really matter so much. Focus on the stuff that matters (in my case, SAT I).
I retook a 770 Math 2, and guess what I got? Yep. That’s right, another 770. It’s not worth a Saturday morning, and it’s better to spend time building up your profile.
Stop worrying about test scores so much and make sure you come off as a student they want.
A 770 is an extremely strong score and will not hold you back even at the most competitive schools. Bolstered with other high scores on SAT/ACT and good grades, a 770 is a score to be proud of! If you retook the exam, it is highly unlikely you will do much better.
