7th grade SAT and ACT scores

What's the significance of taking the SAT in 7th grade? Is it the earliest you can take it, because I never knew so many other people took it as well..

7th: 530V, 620M (1150/1600)

Didn't even know the ACT existed until...11th grade.

560M/470V SAT(pre-writing section) in 7th grade (yea...I know...)

76M/77CR/77W PSAT in 11th grade

710M/770CR/770W SAT in 12th grade

For shirker: this is a copy of my Dec. 28 post

This tests at this age are called above level testing. The whole idea is NOT to prep, not even be familiar with the test. It's more of a diagnostic tool and if you do well you can go to your school and ask for (demand if necessary) placement in higher level classes with something to back you up. In our area it is offered to the students that have scored in the top 5% of grade level testing, and for many it is the first indication (on paper) that the child is HIGHLY gifted. All the courses you can take afterwards at the different centers are very nice, but very expensive. The least you'll get out of the experience is familiarity with the test. Like they told our children: "there are no good or bad scores, you should all be proud you are in the top 5%."

S: 630 CR/700 M 7th grade
760 CR/800 M/800 W 11th grade

If you want to know more Google Above Level Testing and go to the DUKE TIP site

unsure of section scores but

1110 in 7th, 1260 in 8th

I never even thought of taking a standardized test until after I turned 17. It was this past year, my junior year, and I turned out fine. =P

7th: 710 math, 490 verbal (ouch lol)
8th: 740 math, 690 writing 620 reading (ouch again?)

If you took the SAT in 7th?8th grade, please share your results, (math and verbal combined only, please.)

Whats the SAT?

quix, why are you asking such a question? Are you joking around? From other posts, I can tell you know what the SAT is.

popcorn im pretty sure he/she was kidding...

There's already at least one thread on this; check here: http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/sat-act-tests-test-preparation/78732-7th-grade-sat-act-scores.html#post1020653

7th/8th grade SATs don't count for anything...so there's no point in comparing scores...

Kudos to you popcorn boy, such talented research skills! And what acuity, answering such a equivocal question within record time. I admit it, i was joking. you caught me.

7th grade: 790 M/500V

LOL :)

Never took the SATs/ACTs that early...
But I did take the SATs the beginning of my freshman year.

9th - M: 790, CR: 770, W: 740 (Comp. 2300)
10th - (PSAT) M: 80, CR: 77 W: 72 (Comp. 229)
11th - (in June) M: 700, CR: 800, W: 800 (Comp. 2300)

My M/CR composite actually has... decreased, lol.
So I'm taking it once more and I'll be done with the SAT forever, haha.

ACTs only junior year, 34 comp.

8th grade SAT: 570 CR, 610 W, 590 M.
10th grade PSAT: 75 CR (yay!), 67 W (okay...), 60 M (lol)

my son plans to take DUKE TIP ACT/SAT. I want to find out if any of these exams have negative markings.

1040/1600 in 7th like 400ish V/600ish M?
1880/2400 in 10th (590 CR/710 M)
2230/2400 in 11th (710 CR/730 M)

What do you mean by negative markings? The scores will not count unless you write to CB and ask them to keep them in your child's record.

I didn't take them 7th but took em 8th. Don't remember the breakdown but got 1220/1600 I believe. Junior year got 1550/1600.
