There's hope for a lot of gain in scores for most students who take the test at middle school age.

Whew!! thanks! She did, however, take the ACT Explore, and received near perfect scores on math, reading and science. Maybe the ACT will be her "test". She definitely preferred the format over the SAT.

1160 in 7th on the old SAT
1900 in 8th on the new one

too bad there are no more analogies...

640 CR, 600 M, 600 W= 1840 in 8th grade
640 CR, 720 M, 720 W= 2080 in 9th grade

800M,710 W, 690 CR- 7th grade

D had a 510 m, 490 cr on 7th grade SAT (old test, I believe). On the SAT this year (first time, 11th grade) she had a 740m and a 700cr.

zebes

8: 660 M/540 V (1200)
10th grade PSAT: 760 M/700 V/660 W (146/212)
11th grade PSAT: 770 M/670 V/700 W (144/214)
11: 800 M/760 V/720 W (1560/2280)

Ok, I took this in 8th grade (when the writing section first appeared):

SAT:
CR: 800
M: 800
W: 800
Total: 2400

I was like... the only person in my middle school who got >2200, and I still haven't figured out how I did it (on the first try, esp.)...

Have you liked to read a lot for fun, for quite a few years? That would be my wild guess about how an eighth grader would score high on the SAT.

7th grade: 900 total
11th grade: 710M/690R/660W (1400, 2060)

Some little smarties here.

7th grade:
750 M 650 R = 1400
11th grade:
770 M 800 R 790 W = 2360

7th grade- 460M/620V with Duke TIP. I made the TN state recognition level, my twin went to the national program (1200). I didn't do any summer programs or anything, though I probably should have.

11th grade- 670M/780CR/770W 2220 combined
my twin sister still beat me >.< (2290 grrrr)

9th: 1750
11th: 2190 [may retake]

hehe...this really isn't much but I'd like you guys to know my mom got a 22 while she was a senior in hs, and my dad got a 1240. You guys are smart.

Of course in 7th grade I took the SATs and got a 1190, but then on the PSATs sophomore year I got like a 1150. Oy vey.

But its all good because I got a 2100 or so. Which I am happy about.

Before I post S's scores, I'd like to say, for latecomers to this thread, that he took the SAT as a middle schooler as part of a talent search (CTY). Google "CTY" if you want to know more.

SAT, 7th grade: CR: 710; M: 630; W: 680 -- total 2020
SAT, 8th grade: CR: 760; M: 720: W: 700 -- total 2180
PSAT, 9th grade: CR: 76; M: 75; W: 80 -- total 231

Having had some decent math instruction from CTY distance learning accounted for the increase in his math score. Math instruction in his school 5th-7th grade was not even at grade level, much less at his ability. Things are much better now that he's in high school!

I took the ACT in 7th grade and got a 27. (30 English, 19 math, 33 reading, and 27 science.)

Retook it this year, 9th grade, and got a 35. (35, 33, 36, and 36, respectively as above.)

SAT:

1280/1600 in 7th (no prep)

2370/2400 and 1580/1600 (some, but minimal, prep)

7th grade ACT, then 10th gr ACT
went down 1 point in reading
went up 8 points in English
went up 11 points in math
went up 2 points in science

people take the SATs during 7th grade!? ***..

SAT
7th: 530M, 680V (1210/1600)
10th: 750M, 800CR, 790W (2340/2400)
(A shout out to any TIPsters out there!)
