We attended an Elon get together recently and the Elon rep said most people do arrive to drop their students (and their stuff) off at 8:00 am. It sounds kind of crazy to have everyone arriving around the same time. Can anyone who has gone through this at Elon share their thoughts on the best time to drop off?

I'm just picturing a long, long line of cars waiting to pull up in front of the dorms. Is that how it works?

Thanks in advance for helping out a newbie:)

It is more organized than the Presidential inauguration; each dorm has an exact place to pull up; many volunteers helping to direct and tell you where to:

1) unload
2) bring your stuff
3) park your car.

We all arrived between 8-10; went back for a second round that was in the hotel…it was fine…

It went very smoothly. We pulled up to the closest parking lot for Virginia, and they have you park in every other space, leaving the space in between cars for unloading. Then they pull up a cart and bring your stuff right to the bottom of the stairs… As it turns out the other car sharing our unloading space was my son’s roommate, whom he had not yet met in person!

I’d ask your son/daughter if they are eager to get set up and have the first choice of a bed. I moved in very early, but my roommate got there late. Neither of us had trouble. It was actually nice we moved in at different times because the dorms get crowded if you have two sets of families moving in at once.
