What’s your passion kid?

@ TheYankInLondon: That is a great question. I was about to ask the same thing.

WHAT IS YOUR PASSION??? You seem like an OUTSTANDING candidate, but as outstanding as you are… do what you are passionate about. Only that will get you into Harvard.

You’re in eighth grade… please enjoy the next few years and stop worrying about this. Don’t mold your life around getting into college. It’s not worth it. Just do what you love and you’ll go where you are supposed to.

If you were to apply now, there is no way you could get accepted. Everything’s too low. That being said, you’re only in 8th grade. CHILL OUT. This is not an urgent matter. No matter how much you do not want to accept this, you will change as your ambitions change. Your interests grow in different directions as you learn and mature. I was quite ambitious as an 8th grader, very good at math, and wanted to attend MIT to be an Engineer. Now, as I’ve learned so much more about myself, I am set on Computer Science at Cornell. Much different. And there was MUCH change in between.

Just enjoy yourself as you grow, and strive to better yourself. Don’t put so much pressure on yourself, but do not give up that motivation.

If you really REALLY want to go to Harvard, and you do not change your mind, you can definitely get there eventually.

Good luck!

ummmm…you’re thirteen. Don’t start obsessing. Let yourself grow up a little, in three years you might have a completely different outlook on life and college plans. You’re clearly very bright and a hard worker. Focus on the now, college will come faster than you think. There’s not really much of a point in being concerned about it now.

yes you are

now go back to being an 8th grader :-)

Kei

Seriously relax and take it easy!!!, you are in 8th grade, Harvard is full of people who excel but they excel because they are passionate and do what they love not because they follow a parameter of a perfect student. There was a great article in cc (I couldn’t find it to post in here) it was posted by a Harvard alumni and she was talking about the chances that students have to go to Harvard, she said that if you are desperately asking people at cc about your chances and saying “what I have to do to be a part of Harvard?” instead of following your heart to be happy, your changes of 6/100 ( that everyone has at least for the 2014 class) drop to 1/ 10000, so think about it and enjoy you youth life is too short to spend 4 years worrying about colleges!!! be happy.

Molding your life around getting into Harvard will not get you into Harvard.

In a couple of years, when it will actually be the time for you to worry about this, you will be more than fine.

You will never be successful in life. You might as well give your dreams of going to college now and let those with a 3.5 GPA and no extra curriculars have a chance at getting in. That way they might have a chance over pretentious overachievers like yourself.

Enjoy your high school years. Find your passion. Play an instrument. Participate in athletics. Volunteer to volunteer, not build a resume. Hang out with your friends.

BTW, I gave that same advice to my eighth grader … and added, Be a Kid.

^ What the mom said. Always trust your mother. And stay out of trouble with the law.

I’m actually beginning to think that your post was a joke, but if not, then you desperately need to relax and try not to overwhelm yourself with college stress at your age. Like most of these people have said (or implied), high school is a time during which you should discover what you’re truly passionate about (as opposed to what might ensure you an acceptance to Harvard or any other competitive school.) If you keep focusing on “getting into Harvard”, “getting awards”, etc… you’ll drive yourself crazy. I admire your drive and dedication but… seriously, in ten or twenty years, whether or not you went to Harvard will seem SO trivial… so enjoy your life now! And remember that college is what you make of it.

I would start by dropping that attitude. Just imagine what might happen to you upon getting that ominously thin envelope if you spend the next four years obsessing the way you do now.

^ Hey not all thin envelopes bring bad news, haha.
But I agree with you

Well, I will go so far as to say your ambition is highly impressive and admirable even. You just need some greater focus. Use that outstanding foresight and planning ability to figure out exactly what you want out of life and do whatever you possibly can to position yourself accordingly. If Harvard falls into your plan, then go for Harvard because it fits into your plan, not for the sheer virtue of going to Harvard. This may already even be the case, but your post isn’t to convincing in that regard. If you really want to be future minded, then go ahead. It’s never a bad thing to have a plan. Its only a bad thing when the plan doesn’t have a useful and farther reaching objective.

That being said, I think that in a few years you’ll be in great shape to get in. Just grow a focus to your drive and put ideals behind your effort.

Boy go play with a ball.

You too young.

A. OP is a ■■■■■.

B. Kid is ****ed up.

Let’s all pray it’s option A

lol please chill, i couldnt spell harverd in grade 8
