LOL, no kidding. If I had to guess, I’d say making MOSP requires more intellect than the Nobel Prize.

bbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbahahhahaahhaahah. The funny thing is: This dude’s not even in high school. As in, his previous step was grade school (Power rangers lunch boxes, crushes on seemingly ugly girls with braces who end up being prom queens years later, wet beds, kids’ meals at McDonald’s (with the toys and whatnot)).

ahhhh. JUST ENJOY YOUR LIFE, AND LEAVE ALL YOUR WORRIES TO SOPHOMORE YEAR!

^^ Last year, #1 on usamo was straight radical axis and #4 was straight cauchy-schwarz. 14 points down just by knowing formulas, which is enough if you’re a freshman or female. Squeeze out 4 more points (maybe get 3a and some partial credit?) and you’re in blue.

Me in 8th grade: “MOM OMG LEAVE ME ALONE IT’S NOT LIKE I WANNA GO TO HARVARD, RIGHT?”

Me in November 2009: “OMG WILL THEY LET ME IN!??!?!?!?!?”

I hate irony.

@OP
Go somewhere else if you want to make yourself feel good by reading the compliments of other people. You’re not different from most other asians that I know. So please, get a reality check.
I’m sure you’ll be fine in life. Just enjoy your life. Time flies. Soon, you’ll be wishing that you spent your middle school and 4 years of high school on more interesting things than worrying about what kind of college you’re getting into.

Good news people, were catching up to China in the level of competitiveness!

Hahahahaha, surely, there is no seriousness in this comment.

And 8th grade? Really? REALLY? No, OP, you are not eligible for Harvard, given your lack of a high school transcript or comparable level of education. Though “High school diploma or equivalent not required”, though I would assume, strongly recommended. And nice future plans, it would be great if you accomplished half. But in the middle of that post, it is pointless to say that you do not brag.

seriously dont start worrying about this till at least your sophomore year. and trust me your impression of a school can change drastically by visiting. give it more time. and like everyone else is saying enjoy eighth grade!

In 8th grade, I was far more interested in girls and World of Warcraft (possibly two conflicting objectives) than Harvard. Trust me, things can still work out for the best.

I love how the thread name is “8th Grader URGENT!!”.

Definitely won’t be adding ‘appreciative of irony’ to that list anytime soon…

Just apply now, you have a chance of making it.
Trust me, do it.

We need more threads like these on CC.

hahahahhahahahahhaha. this was good comic relief.

Eighth grade… Best years of my life, and I never once thought of college. Just have fun in high school, if Harvard is right for you, then you’ll get in. Don’t try and manufacture a future, but just let it come to you.

Harvard’s admit rate for the Class of 2014 was 6.9%.

Agreed. If it’s one thing I’m thankful for, it’s that I don’t have helicopter parents. Being independent and self-reliant since an early age has helped me a lot with things like this. You’re just a kid! Have some fun, enjoy your classes, and study up. But, for Christ’s sake, don’t set your heart on Harvard in 8th grade. Harvard rejects the vast majority of people who apply, most of whom are wonderful, impressive people. As an earlier poster stated, it’s just a school. You’d be just as happy elsewhere. Don’t let your parents dictate your life; I know that some try to. But if you don’t stop living by their expectations and start living by your own, you’re never going to be happy.

I honestly don’t get people here! It is possible to be worried about getting into harvard and do stuff to prepare and still have a life. Also all those people making jokes about his/her young age I would just like to say you are the very reason why he/she is working hard to avoid becoming like you idiots! :)

okay, so maybe your just in 8th grade. but as they say, whatever you start doing in 8th grade influences your path to college. its nevr 2 early 2 start (depends) but dont overload urself with so much. i was on the harvard website, and they say that they only care if your amazingly fluent in one language rather than knowing bits of 4 or 5 languages. just dont stress urself okay? and teacher recs. only really count in your junior and senior yr, whenevr u start applying, trust me, high school teachers r diff. then from the ones in middle school.

Really? Urgent?

just stick to one or 2 languages, it will take you YEARS to be FLUENT in 5 languages AND be able to have a life. high school isnt as easy as u think. i would know, my parents are also asian, but they dont stress too much about college. be cautious when ur parents get 2 overboard, they shouldnt have 2 much expectations of you.
