i asked my councelor what my average was and she told me it was 93.7 which means my gpa is 4.0. is she right? i thought that a 4.0 meant an 100 average.

i thought a 4.0 was a 97-100...don't kno for sure but that's what I've always been told

4.0 means an 'A' average. If a 93 is an 'A' at your school, then you have a 4.0.

Sorry, but I'm pretty sure most colleges do not recalculate HS GPAs that way (93.7 average = 4.0) and it pretty unlikely that a 93.7 average equals a 4.0. We do not know the scale at your HS but lets assume 90-100 = A, 80-90 = B and you have 5 grades ... 89, 95, 95, 95, and 95 ... that yields an average of 93.8 ... but the colleges generally assign a grade for each course and then average the grades ... so this student has 89 (=B=3.0), and 4 grades of 95 (=A=4.0) and a GPA of 3.8.

well, if your GPA is unweighed, 95-100 is a 4.0 according to the scale conversion from Princeton Review. However, obviously, many schools have weighted averages which go as high as 5.0.

yea, i agree with 3togo. that's how i thought u found a gpa.
