"99% in-state students"

i've been using the website collegeboard.com to find schools and i came across 2 that i was looking at: Cal SU Fresno and University of Houston. but both came up with a very high percentage for in state first year students and a very low percentage for out of state students. does that rate affect my chances of getting into one of these schools?

At Fresno, the vast majority of the students who apply are from CA. I think that's common with any set of state schools. It might not mean selectivity as much as it just means that most applicants happened to be from CA. I'm sure some spots are reserved for in-staters, but by no means all.

It usually means alot of commuters and or not very popular outside of the state, in my opinion high numbers of in state= dislike.

UC colleges are way harder on oos applicants than in-state; you've got to be a star to get in if you're not a Californian.

U of H likes OOS applicants b/c there's not much diversity. It's not a very difficult school to get into, and I'm sure people from OOS aren't scrambling to pay OOS fees for the school.

CSU fresno is a cal state university, not a UC school. I would bet that CSU fresno would do almost anything to get an out of state student because not many in cali wants to go there besides those already in fresno let alone people from out of state. to put it simply, fresno sucks (no offense to anyone that may live there)
