Hi! I'm an incoming tenth grader who really wants to go to a prestigious college, aka NYU, Harvard, Columbia and Penn State.

In middle school, I had a 97 average and landing top 5% in my graduating class, (trust me, it was work). Yet, the problem is that in ninth grade, I didn't do so well, landing myself with a 87 average, (YIKES, I know). I feel as if I work harder, I can get back to that 96 or 97 average.

Please, please, is there any advice on bringing my G.P.A up? What should I do so I can achieve my goal? Thank you so much in advance. :)

Just continue to strive for the best, keep working harder, and keep finding new techniques to make your studying and class performance more superior. However, don’t take regular or easy classes to inflate your GPA. I would only take 2 at the most, that is - if your schedule is very holistic. Consider AP, IB, Honors, Accelerated, or any other advanced classes. Always attend class and be on time so you won’t be disrespectful. Never slack off, if you need to - add a break class to your schedule. Get to know your teacher also, once you tell them about the colleges you want to go to, if it comes to bumping your grade, they may do so.

Don’t worry, if you’re planning to attend graduate/professional school - if you get denied, you still have another chance. Consider state schools also like Penn State, they tend to be cheaper if money is a problem. Good luck.

Well I think you are already on your way to doing better since you want to work harder this year. All you have to do is study hard. Whenever I do badly on a test I just have to realize that I didn’t study hard enough and then I do better the next time.
By the way are you from Nigeria because my parents are.
