A 19-year-old Weston man who was a freshman at Lafayette College in Pennsylvania died Monday

Sounds like a good question to ask when visiting colleges. Even making it a “must have” for colleges making the final list. When battling drinking culture on campus and promoting a safe campus, one would think any wise administrative team would see the sense of such a policy.

@JHS My D went to Lafayette and the amnesty policy described in post #56 does exist there – it is called the Good Samaritan Policy. My D and her friends seemed to be well aware of the policy and she knows of a couple of times were it was utilized.

My daughter is a freshman at Oxy and they have an amnesty policy. We have discussed this in great detail. Part of the problem is most of these kids seem to be exhibiting a strong sense of denial. When you are friends with somebody the tendency is to assume the best in the situation. Kids on teams may face repercussions in terms of being benched however. Page 10 of Lafayette’s student handbook details the school’s Good Samaritan rule. It says that reporters and those who need help due to extreme alcohol or drug intoxication won’t receive official college disciplinary action, but

I don’t know what the Lafayette lacrosse coach’s policy on drinking is but at many schools getting caught drinking can result in getting kicked off the team or at least losing your spot as a starter.
