Being from the midwest, a lot of my friends have gotten 34+ ACT scores while few bother to even take the SAT or receive under 2200 when they do. I'm confused which score is seen as the better of the two and as a senior who is hoping to save some money in the application process, I only want to send one score. Which score is more respectable in the eyes of the average college admissions officer from selective schools such as Rice, Dartmouth, or Williams. The breakdown of my scores is...

SAT: 2250
CR 730
M 750
W 770

ACT: 34
English 36
Math 33
Reading 32
Science 36

Thanks for any advice / help you can give!!

once the writing section is disregarded, your ACT is actually a tad better on
the conversion chart(which is what adcoms go by)

You should send both scores. As ChoklitRain says, they are very similar scores, but few students get such outstanding scores on both tests. Very impressive.

i'd say the 34 has more merit.

34 and over is 99.5+ percentile, and 2250 is 99<X<99.5 percentile

i dk, i do know that colleges like ACT better as well

i'd say the 34, too.

but it depends on where you're applying

Send them both. If you do SATII's they'll get the SAT score anyway. In any case both scores are excellent so they can see it was no fluke.

I'd send them both...

Definetley send both.

Indianfoo, I'm sure they don't like the ACT better but treat both tests with equal value. As for the poster, I would send in both as you did well on both tests. For the SAT, CR/M is also a little higher in value than the writing section.

Don't send the SAT scores because you ****ed up that test bad.

^dont listen to PentHouse

He is just on the forums to make ppl that did well sink to his level.

Penthouse is a troll. Haha what a loser! Trolls on CC are just jealous.

i say send both, b/c ur ACT english compensates you Critical reading, and ur ACt also shows mastery of science (even though ACT science is not real science, its just critical reading with numbers) whereas SAT only tests ur reasoning ability. If money really is a concern, get a fee waiver. Otherwise, spending a little money yields a lot in the long run. don't forget about ur SAT II's...

omg you didnt get 2400 or 36? you suck so bad. how can you be so stupid?
